Customer's Frequently Asked Questions.

How much will this cost?
All work is bid, based on estimated time and material. From these
calculations a firm fixed price bid is created and sent to the customer for
review.

What is the best way to buy these?
While we do bid complete manufacture of assemblies including all materials
and processing, it is typically less expensive if the material is provided by
the customer. Pretty simple economics, anything that we have to buy or have done
has to have a charge applied for administrating the logistics plus something
added for carrying the inventory. Customer supplied material eliminates this.

How do I get samples?
This is always fun! Call us.

How big of a part can you swage?
We have one of the largest swagers available in an American job shop. We have
swaged parts that were over 6" diameter, 3/4" wall, chrome-moly with a reduction
of 2", in one pass.
We have swaged parts that were 26 feet in length.

How will these be shipped?
We will ship by whatever means is desired. We are serviced by most trucking
firms, all major overnight air carriers, located adjacent to a rail siding, and
within 40 miles of an International airport as well running our own trucks
within a 200 mile radius.

What is standard lead time?
For full service manufacturing, lead times are dependant on the number of
outside processes involved and the lead time for raw materials. This currently
runs between 4 and 16 weeks. Swaging sold as a subcontract process to our
customers runs between 3 and 7 working days after receipt of material.
Non-Destructive Testing on small lots received by 12:00 noon is out by 3:00 PM
the same day. Initial Engineering for items that require dies or fixtures runs
4-6 weeks.

Can these deliveries be expedited?
Yes, but don't bring your Visa, break out your checkbook. Will work for
(fill-in-the-blank). This is one of the biggest advantages that Master Swaging
has over the competition. We have been known to pull all nighters, work
weekends, holidays and through most presidential elections if it is really
needed. This type of flexibility is one of the reasons that we have been able to
maintain our customers.

I needed them yesterday, why can't I order them today?
I personally enjoy this one. In order to answer this, I must rely on a quote
made by Spock, replying to Kirk..."If the time-space continuum were meant to be
broken, it would be substantially easier to calculate...".

What about tooling costs?
We design and build tools for ourselves as a part of engineering the
manufacturing process needed to effectively produce an item. We do not sell
tools. We do not build tools for customers. The engineering and experience that
goes into getting a set of dies to produce a form is that which separates us
from folks who have a swager and think they know how to make a part. The place
isn't called Master Swaging for nothing.
We have over 500 sets of dies "on the shelf". Many items can be made without any
investment on the customer's part. Swaging dies require constant maintenance. We
will build them, and we will maintain them without charge. We will charge for
the engineering of an item when dies are not available.

What payment terms do you offer?
This varies with the customer. Our standard terms are C.O.D.. Open accounts
with discount terms with Net 20 are available to qualified businesses after
submission of 3 trade and 1 bank reference, and our review of a credit report.
